Bass
Bill Thommes became a Barbershopper in 1974,
immediately upon being introduced to the Society via the St. Cloud Area Chapter. He
has been very active in the chapter, having held every office and position with the exception of Treasurer. He currently serves as the chapters’ Tag Master. He
has been quarteting for some 25 years and is the head mentor of Chordon Bleu. Bill
credits much of his enjoyment and singing Barbershop to the support and encouragement of his wonderful family of four married
children and three beautiful grandchildren.
Baritone
Bill Pennings' first exposure to barbershopping
was singing with the Fergus Falls chapter in 1974. He became a member of the
St Cloud Area Singing Saints when he moved to St Cloud in 1981. Bill has been an active member in the chapter and currently serves as chapter Treasurer,
a fitting role as he is a mortgage banker with Wells Fargo. Bill is married to Nancy and they have two grown children and two grandchildren.
Besides singing with the quartet and chapter, he enjoys the great outdoors; hunting, fishing, golfing and traveling.
Lead
Dave Kendrick joined the St. Cloud Singing
Saints in 1980 as a Tenor; however, there was an opening for a Lead in a chapter quartet and the rest is history. Prior to becoming a Barbershopper, Dave sang in a men’s chorus, but as he describes it, “to
ring a Barbershop chord is far more fulfilling, and to be able to sing in a good quartet is the best part of Barbershop singing”. Dave is married to Marilyn, and they have three grown children and two grandchildren. When he’s not singing, Dave’s out playing in the dirt with big boy toys!
Tenor
John McCue wasn’t exposed to Barbershop
harmony until he was nearly 50 years old. Although he is the elder statesman
of the group, he is really the neophyte to Barbershopping. John joined the St.
Cloud Singing Saints in the mid 80’s and originally sang Bass & Lead until settling in as a Tenor. He has been active in the chapter serving as the Chapter Secretary for 20 years. John is a retired Professor Emeritus from St.
Cloud State University. He is married to Joyce, the suffering hostess of
our weekly quartet practices. They have four grown children and five grandchildren.
John’s spare time is taken up in the stewardship of 80 acres of hardwood forest, his home away from home.
