Clips and Snips February 2006

The recipient of the 2005 Barbershopper of the Year (BOTY) Award for the St. Cloud chapter is none other than Tom Mulder (pictured left with his wife Jeanne). Tom has been a pivotal part of the Singing Saints for many years and we hope to be blessed with many more years of his expertise.  Tom currently sings lead with the quartet, “Final Answer,” and has taken over the job of script writer for our upcoming show.   Tom is known for his great sense of humor and outgoing personality in the chorus.  The St. Cloud Singing Saints Barbershop Chorus tips their hats to one of the greats! – Ryan Kissinger

Thanks to all of you for recognizing me as Barbershopper of the Year.  I was truly surprised by the announcement and feel somewhat “unworthy”.  I was left at a loss for words, which as you know doesn’t happen very often with me.  Our chapter has an outstanding record of success and I am proud to be a part of it and always proud to share the stage with you guys.  We are not a large group so that success has only come because of the hard work and efforts of everyone.  So please let me share this honor with all of you; you are all “BOTY” as far as I am concerned.  (But I’m the only one who gets a plaque -  Na, Na, Na, Na, Na, Na!) – Tom Mulder

The last board meeting was held on January 23rd at the home of Bill Pennings.  As always a range of topics were discussed.  Our search for a mission statement continues and should be concluding soon. This time of year, of course, singing valentines were discussed with preparations being made for the big day.  Several items were brought up about our music program such as putting a potential member with a buddy for their first few times at rehearsals and looking for coaches for the chorus.  And as always the Annual Show takes up a good portion of the meeting.  A few items brought up were finalizing details on the Paramount contract and preparing for the Retreat and Pre-Show.     The next board meeting is scheduled for February 27th at Ryan Kissinger’s home.  As always any chorus member is invited to attend.  Please let Ryan know if you plan on attending.

The latest approved board meeting minutes will be posted on the bulletin board if you ever want to know more. – Mark Kalla
